Like most people, the Christmas season is my favourite time of year and why not, this is the season when we take special pleasure in handmade gifts and decorations for our home. I love sharing my designs with you and hope you enjoy painting these projects as much as I did.

While I have kept a lot of the old whimsical Christmas folk you have come to know and love, I've also added some new elements for 2010. I hope that you will be enchanted and inspired by my collection of painted and stitched designs in this first installment of Christmas patterns for 2010.

Cut from 6 mm MDF, Santa has a blackboard jacket for the kids to write the countdown on in chalk each day. Measuring H 32 cm x W 25 cm, he is the perfect size to hang on a door knob or hook in a child's room.

Combining stitch and paint techniques, these adorable penguins will add that original handmade touch to your festive decorating this year. Larger penguin measures H 22 cm x W 15 cm. Basic sewing skills required.

This little hanging penguin has attached wings and a hidden black wire hanger at the back. Cut from 6 mm MDF, he measures H 24 cm x 13 cm.

'Deck the halls' with a handmade Christmas by using these cheeky elves and their gift box hold-it-alls in your decorating. Slip cards, notes, menus or place cards into their wire clip for some festive fun at your house.

During this course, video step-by-step, written tutorials and .pdf downloads will guide you in the making of a customized Holiday Planner. The A4 MDF covers (distributed by Kaiser Craft) have a whimsical Christmas design painted on the front and the inside is neatly divided by topic with pockets for stashing various memorabilia. It organizes the entire season into one four-ring binder. The decorative internal list pages have already been designed for you and can be printed off on your own computer. It provides a place to write down all your wish, card & gift lists in one place. It provides lots of slots, right next to those lists to tuck in recipes torn from magazines, gift ideas from catalogues, receipts and so on.
